Our New Arri Alexa Mini with Zeiss Prime Lenses have Arrived!
We are gearing up for a year full of video and photography production and that means securing new and better equipment for our studio. One of the most stunning cameras on the market today is the new Arri Alexa Mini. It's got a slick body sitting at only five inches tall that is absolutely perfect for mounting onto gimbals, steadicams, drones, or cars. With such a lightweight body and compact design, it's easy to rig the Alexa Mini with other camera accessories such as a follow focus or shoulder pad for run and gun shooting. Built in Wi-Fi capabilities allow for the camera to be wirelessly connected to and adjusted using Android or iOS devices, making the camera assistant's job that much easier. This feature allows us to save on time on set which makes for an easier day of production. What stands out the most with this camera is its picture quality. The 4:3 sensor and automatic de-squeeze function make the image comparable to that of the other Alexa systems, as well as other high end cameras such as Sony, RED, and Canon. This also saves time in post production because less time is needed to spend coloring the picture to make it the way you want it to look, and it's 4k ability makes it easy to frame the shot in any way that you want through editing.
The Alexa Mini is a very remarkable camera on its own, but pairing it with the best lenses on the market allows it to truly shine and produce a perfect image every time. To complement the camera, we brought in some brand new heavy duty CP.2 super speed Zeiss lenses: a 35mm PL, a 50mm EF, and an 85mm PL. These lenses are the top of the line for filmmaking and will add to the already stunning image of the Alexa Mini because they provide perfect color rendition and sharp contrast in low or high light scenes. Another feature that stands out with the CP.2 Zeiss lens set is they have virtually no distortion. This is very important for any video or photography production, but it is especially helpful on big movie sets where picture quality is key. They cover a full-frame sensor format and are equipped with the interchangeable lens mount system for use with our Alexa Mini as well as our Sony FS7 Mark II.
